Ricky Reynoso is a New York based costume designer.

Born and raised in Los Angeles– he originally moved to New York to study at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and now resides in Brooklyn with his partner and too many pairs of uncomfortable shoes.

Ricky has designed costumes for theater, television, and other live performances. He served as Assistant Costume Designer for all four seasons of the HBO series We’re Here, for which he and the designers received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes.

He has a deep love of detail and dramaturgy that he infuses into all of his work. From obsessing over the way a pair of pants has been worn out & faded, to the shape & placement of individual crystals on a headpiece– it’s always through informed consideration. 

In addition to his theatrical design work, Ricky also co-designs and manages his partner’s studio (Diego Montoya Studio) where they design & build custom costumes together with their team. While they mainly work with drag artists, they have also created pieces for music videos, commercials, and private clients.

When he’s not working, Ricky enjoys spending time with his partner Diego & their friends in Brooklyn, looking for the best cookies in the city, and watching bad reality television (it counts as research).
